Midtsommer Festivalen
About the project.
Midtsommer Festivalen is a new cultural event celebrating light, community, and the timeless Scandinavian midsummer tradition.
The visual identity needed to capture that fleeting feeling of warmth and togetherness — without leaning into folklore clichés or feeling overly modern.

challenge.
To design an identity that balances tradition and modernity. It needed to feel rooted in Nordic culture yet fresh enough to attract a younger audience and international visitors.
approach.
I focused on simplicity and symbolism. The logo and supporting elements draw inspiration from the sun, the horizon, and the gathering circle — all visual metaphors for community and renewal. The color palette reflects natural contrasts: warm firelight, soft sand tones, and the cool blue of northern evenings.
Outcome.
A visual identity that brings the essence of midsummer to life — organic, warm, and minimal. It honors tradition through restraint rather than decoration, allowing the feeling of the season to speak for itself.
Final thoughts.
This project was about capturing atmosphere rather than aesthetics. Designing Midtsommer reminded me that simplicity often holds the most emotion — when form, tone, and light align, the result feels effortless.
